Do You Feel Like You're Playing Tug of War with Your Dog's Behaviour?
Refined Canines to the Rescue - The Life You Want with Your Dog Lies Beyond Obedience!
Refined Canines offers something that is strangely elusive in the dog training industry: success in real daily life with your dog.

We take a holistic approach to dog behaviour and training that is emotion-focused and communication-centred. One that resolves problems of every kind and instills default positive behaviours at the most foundational level - in the brain. No Band-Aids for gaping wounds here; just straight-up, authentic changes that open up a whole new world for not only your dog, but for yourself as well!
Sit, down, heel? Think again! Why would you want to waste your time, efforts, money & frustrations only to have to continually managing your dog's unwanted/unhealthy behaviours? Unless you're somebody that likes a lot of extra work, trying to work with obedience or alternate behaviours to resolve challenges that a dog is having is essentially like trying to put a square peg in a round hole and wondering why it won't fit! It's also a perfect ticket to a brand new full-time job as the dog-police.
A well-trained dog can do some fancy stuff and look SUPER impressive when they're being told exactly what to do, when & where to do it, and for how long they must continue to do it... But without the foundational life skills that all dogs need in order to be able to enjoy life in the overwhelming environments & very busy lives that the majority of people lead, that same dog, regardless of how pretty his heel cue is, will not have learned anything about HOW they can regulate themselves or make great choices once you release them to do their own thing. Think about how dog sports as the ultimate example: these dogs & their people have to be on point, well-practiced and well-trained in order to succeed in any way... but sadly, absolutely none of that translates over into helping their dog learn about how to live calmly, mindfully & optimistically in their everyday lives... In fact, usually they're quite a handful because they've been taught a LOT of ignition but without any ability to change gears, brake or steer themselves (so to speak) when they're left to their own devices.
Positional cues don't actually HELP your dog or your family to truly enjoy life together in any way. We do teach practical cues (recall, for example!) and we LOVE to teach obedience as it's so much fun! But it is an incredibly poor choice of methodology in attaining a well-behaved dog that chooses to walk nicely on leash with you, to greet people calmly, to enjoy the environment around them without feeling the need to be hypervigilant or hyperaroused. A dog that has patience, desires cooperation, seeks out relaxation and calmness on their own at anytime and in anyplace. A dog that can be trusted with freedoms you may not be able to even imagine just yet! Once we have a foundation in place for behaviour, it is delightfully easy to teach your dog ANY trick or cue you want once you've optimized your relationship & have these crucial life skills in place.
